CALEDONIA, Mich. – Kaylee Sarnicola made 11 saves Friday in a 2-0 Roosevelt loss to Davenport in Michigan in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
The loss eliminated the Lakers (1-11-4, 1-9-2 GLIAC) from postseason consideration with two games left in their season. Davenport scored twice in the first half, but otherwise were held at bay by Sarnicola and the Lakers defense. The Panthers held a 21-5 advantage in shot attempts, but Sarnicola was up to the task with her sixth performance of the year with at least 10 stops. The freshman is now one save away from tying Roosevelt's mark for the second-most saves in a season, but still 35 behind the single-season record of 172.
Alex Creel and Bella Perry had Roosevelt's two shots on target with Perry's coming in the first half and Creel's in the second half.Â
UP NEXT: Roosevelt closes the season next week with a pair of home contests, starting at noon Thursday when the Lakers welcome Parkside to Morris Field.
