Box Score

CROWN POINT, Ind. – The Roosevelt University softball team split its two CCAC Conference Tournament games on Friday, May 7, losing to second-seeded and 14th ranked Saint Xavier University by the score of 12-0 and then defeating sixth-seeded Calumet College of St. Joseph by the score of 4-0 at the Crown Point Sports Complex to keep its season alive.

In the day's first game against Saint Xavier, the Cougars clawed a run across the plate in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Then in the fourth inning, two Laker errors with two outs enabled the Cougars to add four more runs push their lead to 5-0 and Saint Xavier blew the game wide open with seven runs in the sixth to give the Lakers their first loss in the double-elimination tournament.

Kate Sisson (SO/Martinsville, Ind.) put in a dominating performance in RU's second game of the day against Calumet College of St. Joseph, throwing a three-hit, shutout to help extend the Lakers season. The Lakers were also held off the scoreboard for the first five innings, but the Laker offense came alive with four runs in the sixth inning. Kelly Farmer (JR/Evergreen Park, Ill.) led off the inning with a double and scored on a Destini Nolan (FR/Midlothian, Ill.) triple. Aisley Njissang (SR/Los Altos, Calif.) came through with a base hit to bring in Nolan, and Anaisa Lozada (SO/Bensenville, Ill.) also singled to give RU two players on base.
