BAY CITY, Mich. – Junior outfielder Ella Dvoracek was named a second-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player for the second straight year, the league announced Wednesday.
The native of Downers Grove started all 48 games for the Lakers this season and led the team with a.333 batting average and .378 on-base percentage. Her stats improved in 28 conference games, hitting .360 with a .421 on-base percentage against GLIAC foes. Dvoracek also set a school record on the base paths with 20 steals this season, using her speed to put herself in scoring position and score a team-best 20 runs.
It is the second all-conference honor for Dvoracek in her career.
"Ella was a difference-maker for us all season – setting the tone at the top of the lineup, creating pressure on the base paths, and making big plays in the outfield," Roosevelt assistant coach Maddie Massaro said. "This recognition is well deserved."
Roosevelt also had a pair of honorable mention all-conference selections in freshman shortstop Sophia Barofsky and sophomore utility player Rebecca Urbaniak.
Barofsky joined Dvoracek as the only players to start every game this season for the Lakers and finished with a team-best 21 RBI during her first season in Green and White. The Downers Grove native had seven extra-base hits among her 33 hits this season.
Urbaniak earned honorable mention designation for the second straight season after again playing a multitude of roles for the Lakers. The Homewood native also made eight appearances in the circle for Roosevelt and played both infield and outfield over the course of the season. She hit .285 in 47 appearances and led the team with nine doubles among her 12 extra-base hits.
