Softball Splits CCAC Conference Doubleheader Versus Calumet St. Joseph

WHITING, Ind. – The Roosevelt University softball team split a CCAC Conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 7 versus Calumet College of St. Joseph, dropping game one by the score of 4-1 and winning game two by the score of 22-2 at Whiting Sports Complex.

In game one, the Crimson Wave scored two runs in both the second and third innings, with both runs in the third unearned, off Laker starting pitcher Hailey Getz (JR/Evergreen Park, Ill.). The Lakers scattered eight hits in the game, but were only able to score one run in the top of the fifth when Kelly Farmer (JR/Evergreen Park, Ill.) doubled to score Aisley Njissang (SR/Los Altos, Calif.), who had singled earlier in the inning.

The Roosevelt bats erupted in game two, scoring a school record 22 runs on 17 hits with nine runs in both the first and third innings to put the game away. The Lakers added a run in the fourth and three in the fifth, while the Crimson Wave tallied solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

  • Hailey Getz started & pitched all 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits with 2 strikeouts
  • Aisley Njissang went 2-for-3 with the only run scored for the Lakers
  • Jessica Schneider (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) was 2-for-3 with a double
  • Kelly Farmer hit 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI
  • Mia Signore (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) was also 1-for-3 with a double

  • Destini Nolan (FR/Midlothian, Ill.) was 2-for-3 with a homerun, double, 4 RBI, & a run scored
  • Jessica Schneider was 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI & 3 runs scored
  • Kassie Kawka (JR/Palos Hills, Ill.) went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI, & a run scored
  • Reyann Kruger (SO/Perrysburg, Ohio) drove in 3 RBI
  • Kelly Farmer, Sabrina Treccani (SO/Homewood, Ill.), & Aisley Njissang each had 2 runs batted in
  • Kate Sisson (SO/Martinsville, Ind.) picked up her 8th win of the year, going 4 innings & allowing 1 run, which was unearned, on 3 hits to go with 6 strikeouts

  • The 22 runs scored in game two set a program record for runs scored in a game , eclipsing the mark of 21 runs scored on 3/29/15 in a 10-inning 23-21 loss to Purdue University Calumet
  • The Lakers are now 4-12 in the all-time series versus the Crimson Wave
