GLENDALE, Wis. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in the CCAC Conference Tournament quarter-finals with a 5-0 loss to second-seeded Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday, April 6 at the Bavarian Inn.
The Lakers held the high-scoring Wolves scoreless during the first half with goalkeeper Chantal Esparza (SR/Blue Island, Ill.) and her teammates playing a strong defensive game for the first 45 minutes. Roosevelt caught Cardinal Stritch on the counter late in the half, and a Gabi Christidis (SO/Rockford, Ill.) shot just missed the top corner by inches to keep the game scoreless at the half. The Wolves needed only 32 seconds in the second half to tally the first goal and added two more goals in the next 11 minutes to take control of the game and eliminate the Lakers from the postseason.
