Women's Soccer Defeats Trinity International for First Victory of the Season

WHEELING, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer team defeated Trinity International University by the score of 2-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action on Wednesday, March 3 to earn its first victory of the 2021 spring season at Heritage Park in Wheeling, Ill.

The Lakers were on the attack for most of the first half and were rewarded in the 31st minute when Gabi Christidis (SO/Rockford, Ill.) carried the ball through the midfield and found Ashley Capetillo (SO/Chicago, Ill.) alone on the left side of the TIU penalty box, who calmly slotted the ball in the far corner for a 1-0 RU lead. Roosevelt doubled its advantage a minute and a half into the second half, as Julia Szylke (SR/Schaumburg, Ill.) headed in an Anahi Cerda (JR/Chicago, Ill.) corner kick for the eventual 2-0 final score.
