Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against St. Ambrose University (Iowa) on Friday, March 12, winning the first game 3-1 and losing the second game 8-5 at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Ill.
The Lakers scored a single run in the third inning on an Aisley Njissang (SR/Los Altos, Calif.) RBI double and two more in the sixth inning on an error and a Jessica Schneider (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) sacrifice fly in game one to provide the offense needed for starting pitcher Kate Sisson (SO/Martinsville, Ind.). The sophomore allowed just one run on five hits while striking out eight batters to earn the win and raise her record to 7-1 on the year.
The Fighting Bees ended the Lakers seven-game winning streak in game two of the doubleheader, using a five-run first inning along with a run in the second to take an early 6-0 lead. Roosevelt got two runs in the third on another Njissang RBI double and a Samantha Norman (FR/Shorewood, Ill.) run scoring single. However, St. Ambrose pushed across two more runs in the fourth to take a commanding 8-2 lead. The Lakers kept fighting though, with Njissang driving another run in in the fifth and two more runs scoring in the sixth on back-to-back bases loaded walks to Jessica Schneider and Mia Signore (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) for the 8-5 final score.
