CHICAGO – Lindzy Cox led all scorers with 18 points, but the Roosevelt women's basketball team could not stop 10th-ranked Saint Xavier from pulling away with a 72-60 victory at the Shannon Center on Wednesday.
Cox added nine rebounds while Cearrah Huddleston pulled down 13 boards for the Lakers (3-15, 2-8 CCAC).
Ashley Smoldt tallied 14 points to go with six rebounds, while JayShari Chears scored 12 points.
Sidney Lovitsch led four Cougars in double figures with 13 points off the bench for SXU (16-3, 12-0 CCAC).
Roosevelt battled back from an early double-digit deficit to get within five in the second quarter.
SXU pushed its lead back up to double digits with a 21-point third quarter, building a lead that even Roosevelt's own 21-point fourth showing was not able to overcome.
The Lakers host Cardinal Stritch on Monday in the first of four consecutive home games. Monday's game starts at 5pm in the Goodman Center.
