Women's Soccer Edged On The Road At Clarke, 1-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Kelsey Heaton made six saves in goal in her return to action, but the Roosevelt women's soccer team couldn't secure the equalizer on the road against a tough Clarke (Iowa) side in a narrow 1-0 loss on Sunday.

Clarke (6-1-0) scored in the ninth minute on a goal from Sara Anbardan, and Roosevelt (1-1-1) prevented any further damage the rest of the way thanks to good team defending and Heaton's strong netminding for the Lakers.

Heaton missed the previous contest due to illness and showed no signs of rust, keeping the Lakers in the game by keeping the hosts off the scoreboard for the remaining 81 minutes after the early strike.

The Green and White withstood 13 shots from the Pride. The Lakers' five attempts could not net the tying goal in a valiant road effort.

Roosevelt will play its first regular season home game this Saturday, Sept. 21 in a CCAC-opening match against Governors State at 11 a.m. That match will take place at the SeatGeek Stadium turf field in Bridgeview.
