Lentz's Shutout, Nightcap Hit Parade Spur Softball's Sweep Of Robert Morris

BENSENVILLE, Ill. - After rain halted Sunday's attempt at a doubleheader between Roosevelt and Robert Morris, the Lakers returned to Bensenville, near O'Hare, on Monday with a mindset like the famed Victory Auto Wreckers based there and towed away any chances of the host Eagles winning with a pair of convincing late-night victories for the Green and White.

The Lakers (9-26, 3-9 CCAC) scored three runs in the top of the first inning, and that was all the support Madison Lentz needed in a complete-game shutout win for a 3-0 decision in the opener.

In game two, the Lakers broke out the bats in a big way with 13 hits that helped Roosevelt score in all but one inning for a 9-1 six-inning result.

Kassie Kawka homered and Aisley Njissang drove in four runs during the twinbill.

Lentz was in command in game one, fanning seven and giving up just four hits to secure the first shutout for the Lakers this season.

Game two was a combination of offense and pitching coming together, as the Lakers made life difficult all game for the Eagles (1-19, 1-13 CCAC) who entered the circle.

On the other side, Brinn Arwood and Brianna McCormick teamed up to allow just five hits and one run.

Roosevelt gets a few days off before hosting Calumet St. Joseph this Friday at The Ballpark at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont at noon.
