St. Ambrose Gets Past Women's Basketball, 78-63

CHICAGO – Lindzy Cox scored a team-high 17 points, but the Roosevelt women's basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start and sluggish shooting in a 78-63 loss to St. Ambrose at the Goodman Center on Monday night.

Nadia Thorman-McKey tallied 10 points and Jasmine Albert had eight rebounds for the Lakers (14-12, 7-9 CCAC), who made just five of their first 25 shots and fell behind by double digits in the second quarter.

Roosevelt brought its deficit down to single digits late in the third quarter, but the Bees (18-7, 11-5 CCAC) shot 58 percent (7-of-12) in the fourth to pull away.

SAU had four players in double figures, led by Madi Epperson's game-high 20 points.

The Lakers created 16 turnovers, but even those takeaways couldn't get RU out of its shooting struggles on this night.

Roosevelt heads to the Shannon Center on Chicago's far southwest side to tangle with 17th-ranked Saint Xavier at 5 p.m.
