Box Score CHICAGO – Julie Garcia and Meghan McCue connected for an early equalizer, but the Roosevelt women's soccer team could not prevent St. Ambrose from scoring three unanswered goals in a 4-1 loss to the Bees at Stuart Field on Wednesday.
St. Ambrose (8-4-2, 7-1-1 CCAC) struck early on Morgan Wahlen's third-minute goal before Garcia took a ball from McCue and beat keeper Brittny White to get the Lakers (2-8-2, 1-7-1 CCAC) level in quick order.
The Green and White had a lapse in the middle of the first half, as Erin Smothers scored a go-ahead goal in the 21st minute and Stephanie Quigley added the Bees' third first-half goal just five minutes later.
Roosevelt's defense held firm for the remainder of the first half and a majority of the second half, helping the Lakers produce a couple of key looks late. While the Lakers could not capitalize, St. Ambrose tacked on a late tally from Natalie Miller to cap the scoring for the day.
