CHICAGO - Holy Cross' Ma'Ele Perez-Garcia scored off a rebound in the 43rd minute, providing the match's only goal as the Roosevelt women's soccer team was edged by the Saints in a 1-0 loss at Stuart Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Monica Munoz had three shots, including two on goal, and Abbey Hand also unfurled a pair of shots for the Lakers (1-4-2, 0-3-1 CCAC).
Kelsey Heaton made four saves against the Saints (5-4-0, 2-2-0 CCAC), who took advantage of an opportunity late in the first period when Lauren Cernak's shot hit the crossbar and bounced to Perez-Garcia, who was able to evade Heaton and score.
The Lakers created opportunities late, including a nifty bicycle try from Munoz that tested keeper Chloe Kane and near-misses by Hand, Marcella Calderon and Estefany Posas.
Roosevelt heads to Bourbonnais this Saturday to tangle with Olivet Nazarene at 5 p.m.
