Thorman-McKey Proves Key In Double-Double Effort, Women's Basketball Defeats IUSB

Box Score

CHICAGO – Nadia Thorman-McKey posted a double-double to pace the Roosevelt women's basketball team, as the Lakers built a big lead early and held on for a 67-56 victory over Indiana South Bend at the Goodman Center on Wednesday.

Thorman-McKey continued her strong rookie season with game highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers (13-10, 6-7 CCAC), who snapped a two-game skid.

Jasmine Albert added 13 points and nine rebounds. Three other Lakers had at least eight points each, and Becca Bergman handed out eight assists.

Kyleigh Kubik and Kylie Fehrman had 14 points each for the Titans (9-13, 5-8 CCAC).

Roosevelt shot better than 50 percent in the first half, and the Lakers took a 15-point lead into the break.

The Lakers led by 17 at one point in the third, but IUSB battled back and eventually got its deficit down to four with 6:33 left in regulation.

That's as close as the Titans would get, with Roosevelt upping its advantage and keeping the guests at bay the rest of the way.

"This was a great bounce back game after Saturday," Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell said after her team rebounded from a road loss to Judson four days ago. "Our energy was outstanding and we executed well on both ends of the floor. We did a great job of protecting our home court."

Roosevelt hosts 13th-ranked St. Francis (Ill.) this Saturday at 1 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
