ROSEMONT, Ill. – Amber Green's walk-off hit catapulted the Roosevelt softball team to a doubleheader sweep of rival Robert Morris Illinois at The Ballpark at Rosemont on Tuesday night.
Green hit an RBI double that scored Aisley Njissang from second in the bottom of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and send Roosevelt 10-25, 5-6 CCAC) to a 4-3 victory in the finale after the Lakers defeated the Eagles (6-18, 0-12 CCAC) by a final of 8-3 in the opener.
Njissang drove in two runs and earned the win in the circle, while Brianna McCormick closed the door with two scoreless innings for the save.
Madison Lentz pitched seven quality innings to earn the win in the second game.
Green had two runs batted in during each game for four RBI on the day, with none bigger than her game-winning two-bagger in the last inning of the final contest.
Roosevelt rallied back from an early two-run deficit to even the game and knotted the game again in the sixth on Cam Wicker's RBI bunt single.
The Lakers jumped out to a 5-0 lead and, after RMU got within two late, Roosevelt responded with a three-run sixth to stay ahead comfortably.
Roosevelt heads to Davenport, Iowa to face St. Ambrose on Friday.
