Njissang Comes Through Again, Softball Splits With Indiana South Bend

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Aisley Njissang homered and drove in four of her six runs on the day in game one, propelling the Roosevelt softball team to a 6-2 comeback win over Indiana South Bend and a doubleheader split against the Titans at The Ballpark at Rosemont on Friday.

The Lakers (7-20, 2-3 CCAC) attempted another rally, this time from down six runs, before falling short against the Titans (8-6, 3-1 CCAC) in a 7-5 defeat in the finale.

In the day's opener, Madison Lentz recovered from a shaky two-run first to hold IUSB scoreless the rest of the way and pick up her first win as a Laker after Njissang tied the game on a two-run single in the first and added big insurance with a two-run homer over the leftfield wall in the fifth.

Brooke Lee, who went 5-for-5 on the day and has six hits in her last seven at-bats, manufactured the go-ahead run in the fourth by hitting a one-out single, advancing to second on a groundout, stealing third and then scoring on a throwing error.

Mackenzie LeDuc added an RBI hit in the fifth.

Njissang faced a tougher time in the circle in the nightcap, as the Titans scored six runs in three innings.

Roosevelt's bats awoke in the bottom of the third, scoring four times as Haley Huss and Njissang sandwiched Katrina Yager's RBI hit with run-scoring triples.

Caitlyn Santiago's RBI double in the fifth made it a one-run game, but the Lakers couldn't score again as the Titans tacked on a run in the seventh.

Roosevelt is back in action on April 3 at Olivet Nazarene.
