ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Roosevelt softball team had a tough day on the diamond against Aquinas on Sunday, falling 8-0 and 4-2 in a pair of non-conference contests.
The Lakers were able to churn out five hits in the opener, but couldn't produce any runs against Marisa Loya, who pitched a complete game shutout.
Aquinas scored four times in the top of the first and never looked back.
The Lakers got into a hole early allowing two first inning runs in the finale but continued to battle and scored twice amidst the first and third innings as Haley Huss and Aisley Njissang drove in runs to cut the deficit to one.
A sac-fly in the top of the seventh extended the Saints' lead and proved too much to overcome for the Lakers.
Aisley Njissang had a three-hit game during the finale while Brooke Lee and Haley Huss both had two-hit games during the day.
Roosevelt fell to 3-17 overall, while RMU is now 20-8.
The Lakers will be back in action at Judson this Wednesday, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
