Women's Basketball's Second-Half Comeback Falls Short At Indiana Northwest

GARY, Ind. – Lindzy Cox scored a game-high with 21 points, and the Roosevelt women's basketball team's second-half rally came up short in a 67-57 loss at Indiana Northwest on Tuesday.

Ashley Smoldt added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lakers (0-2), who played without senior point guard Becca Bergman due to injury.

Jasmine Albert added nine points.

Michelle Borgen and Grayce Roach scored 21 points each for the RedHawks (2-1), who outscored the Lakers 20-4 in the second quarter to build a big lead that required a major Laker comeback.

Roosevelt did its best to get within striking distance, outscoring IUN by seven in the second half. Cox hit a three with less than a minute left in regulation to get the Lakers within seven, but that was as close as the Lakers could get.

Roosevelt hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene at the Goodman Center in the Lakers' home opener on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
