Munoz Bags Two Goals, Women's Soccer Defeats Calumet St. Joseph 3-1

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - Monica Munoz scored the game's first and final goals, and the Roosevelt women's soccer team came away with a 3-1 victory over host Calumet St. Joseph on Saturday.

Chelsea Olson scored her fourth goal of the year for the Lakers (3-6-0, 1-3-0 CCAC), who cemented their first conference win of the fall.

Munoz was the story, as she scored Saturday's inaugural strike in the fourth minute on a ball from Brennan Sullivan.

Olson scored late in the first half, sending in a ball past the keeper in the 41st minute to let Roosevelt take a two-goal advantage into intermission.

The Crimson Wave (0-6-1, 0-4-0 CCAC) cut the Lakers' lead in half on Alex Clemente's 56th-minute goal, but Munoz tacked on her second of the day and team-leading sixth of the season 10 minutes later to help the Green and White seal the deal.

Kara Jones made four saves for Roosevelt.

The Lakers host Trinity International on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. at Toyota Park.
