ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three big innings for Olivet Nazarene's offense upended the Roosevelt softball team in doubleheader action at The Ballpark at Rosemont on Saturday.
The Lakers (8-12, 1-5 CCAC) saw a six-run second inning propel the Tigers (13-7, 4-2 CCAC) to a 9-1 victory in the opener before a five-run second and a six-run fourth spelled doom for the hosts as ONU took the finale by a final of 11-2.
Lauryn Lewis drove in a run in each game, while Kelli Jones hit an RBI triple in the nightcap.
Nine walks came back to haunt game one starter Maddy Janssen, while game two starter Brinn Arwood saw a combination of nine ONU hits and four Roosevelt errors mar her day in the circle.
Roosevelt will look to bounce back when the Lakers take on Trinity International in Wheeling. That conference doubleheader is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5.
