Women's Basketball Wins Big At Trinity Christian, 82-55

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Jasmine Albert led a balanced effort with a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Roosevelt women's basketball team overwhelmed host Trinity Christian by a final of 82-55 at DeVos Gymnasium on Saturday.

Lindzy Cox scored 20 points to go with six rebounds and five assists, while Paige Gallimore tallied 15 points for the Lakers (9-4, 4-2 CCAC), who shot 48 percent from the field and held an 18-board advantage on the glass.

Ashley Smoldt aided the rebounding performance with her career-best 13 caroms. Smoldt and Albert had five offensive rebounds apiece as Roosevelt pulled down 19 offensive boards.

Lauren Stokes led the Trolls (5-8, 3-4 CCAC) with 15 points.

Stokes scored the game's first points on a three for Trinity Christian, but it was all Lakers from there as Roosevelt scored eight consecutive points and poured on the offense to never relinquish its double-digit lead.

"Great team win against a tough conference opponent," Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell said. "I thought we did a really good job defensively and forced them to take contested shots. On the other end of the floor, I really liked how we didn't always settle for outside shots and we had pretty good ball movement as well. The most impressive team statistic was our rebounding. Balanced scoring helped once again, with Jasmine, Lindzy, and Paige all shooting great percentages from the field and from the three.

"I'm enjoying watching everything come together for our team and our goal is to continue to put in hard work in order to stay consistent."

Saturday marked Albert's third double-double of the campaign.

Roosevelt takes on Dominican in River Forest, Ill. on Tuesday.
