Women's Soccer Blanks St. Francis (Ill.), 2-0

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Monica Munoz and Anna Agboola scored for the second straight match, giving the Roosevelt women's soccer team its second consecutive victory as the Lakers blanked visiting St. Francis (Ill.), 2-0, at Toyota Park on a beautiful and windy Wednesday afternoon.

Roosevelt improved to 5-8-0 overall and 3-5-0 in CCAC play, as the win put the Lakers within the top eight of the conference and in striking distance of the Lakers' first conference tournament berth.

Munoz scored in the 17th minute by gathering a deep cross from Agboola and knocking the ball into the net, and Agboola followed with a tally of her own in the 34th minute after Erika Edmonds sent a ball her way that allowed her to unleash a quick shot past keeper Bethany Dombkowski.

Kara Jones made eight saves for her first clean sheet of the season and Roosevelt's first-ever win over the Fighting Saints (7-6-2, 3-4-1 CCAC) in six matchups since 2012.

Munoz now has a team-leading eight goals, while Agboola has as many goals (six) as her team-high mark in assists.

Roosevelt takes on Judson in Elgin at noon this Saturday in a bout between two sides with identical CCAC records and a match that has major CCAC Tournament implications for each school.
