CHICAGO – The Roosevelt women's basketball team will open the 2016 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament against top seed and CCAC regular season champion St. Francis (Ill.) at the Sullivan Center in Joliet on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Central.
The eighth-seeded Lakers (15-15) take on the fifth-ranked Fighting Saints (27-3) in the tourney opener with high hopes. Roosevelt gave St. Francis all it could handle on the Saints' home court back on Dec. 12, with the Lakers falling 70-60 despite hanging around for most of the game.
Senior point guard Becky Williford ranks ninth in the country in total assists (133), while sophomore center Jasmine Kyler is ranked ninth in total blocks (66). Sophomore guard Paige Gallimore paces the Lakers in scoring with 16.0 points per game, an average good for eighth in the CCAC.
Live coverage of the quarterfinal will be provided via St. Francis, with live stats and live video.
