Big Fourth Quarter Lifts No. 17 Indiana East Past Women's Basketball

RICHMOND, Ind. – Despite another 20-point performance from Paige Gallimore, the Roosevelt women's basketball team couldn't stop 17th-ranked Indiana East from rallying with a big fourth quarter on the Red Wolves' home court as the Lakers saw their four-game winning streak snapped in a 78-65 loss on Wednesday.

Gallimore tallied 26 points for the Lakers (7-3), who led by one after three quarters but saw fatigue set in on the second night of back-to-back games.

The Red Wolves (7-3), led by a game-high 29 points from Tia King and 21 from Mackenzie Campbell, doubled up the Lakers in the fourth with 28 points to Roosevelt's 14. Indiana East connected on five of seven shots from behind the arc.

With Roosevelt nursing a one-point lead in the final period, King hit three straight treys and scored every basket during a decisive 11-0 run that turned the tables. She eventually scored 14 straight points for the hosts.

"I take all of the responsibility for this one," Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell said. "We ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. I am beyond proud of the how we competed this entire game. Our energy was amazing and we fought until the buzzer went off. We learned a lot about ourselves this game.

"It was a great experience for our veterans to be put in positions to lead, and it was also beneficial for our newcomers to see what it takes to beat a top 25 team on the road."

Gallimore scored 20-plus points for the third straight game and sixth time in 10 games this season.

Gina Mathews tallied 10 points and Chelsey Crippen finished with seven points and a game-best 13 rebounds.

Roosevelt returns home this Saturday, Dec. 10 to host third-ranked St. Francis (Ill.) at the Goodman Center starting at 1 p.m.
