CHICAGO - The recent stellar play between the posts displayed by Roosevelt University junior goalkeeper Maria Narcisi (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) netted the third-year netminder Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Oct. 16, the league announced on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Narcisi is the first Roosevelt women's soccer student-athlete to earn CCAC Player of the Week honors of any kind in the program's young five-year history.
The Roosevelt keeper went 2-0 this past week, pitching a road shutout at Trinity International last Wednesday before allowing just one goal while making eight saves against Purdue Northwest on Saturday to allow the Lakers to rally back on Anna Agboola's two second-half goals for a victorious 2-1 result.
Narcisi made eight saves in each of those matches.
The junior now has 51 saves, a 2.91 goals-against average and a save percentage of .761 in 2016.
Narcisi and the Lakers play St. Francis (Ill.) inside Joliet Memorial Stadium tonight at 7 p.m.
