Olson Scores Second Straight Game-Winning Goal, Defense Rules In 1-0 Win Over Clarke

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Chelsea Olson's 38th-minute strike was all the scoring that the Roosevelt women's soccer team needed to take a 1-0 result over visiting Clarke at Toyota Park on Saturday.

Rookie keeper Kara Jones made four saves to record the clean sheet in her collegiate debut for the Lakers, who are 2-0 to start a season for the first time in school history.

Olson, who scored the game-winner against Mount Mercy last week, did the honors again this time around with a drive forward toward goal late in the first half that produced a clean look. The unimpeded scene created by Olson's run allowed her to unleash a shot targeting the lower left post that scooted past Clarke keeper McKenna Crossen.

The Lakers' defense continued to stifle the opposition, as Roosevelt allowed just six total shots en route to the shutout while the Green and White offense unfurled 14 attempts for a balanced showing.

Roosevelt hits the road for the next three games, starting with a Sept. 4 date against Taylor.
