Softball Opens Fastpitch Dreams Classic With 9-1 Win Over Ursuline

North Myrtle Beach, SC – The Roosevelt softball team opened play on Monday in the 2015 Fastpitch Dreams Classic in fine fashion with a 9-1, run-rule triumph over NCAA Division II side Ursuline College. Junior Kristy Santora did the damage on offense with three hits and three RBI, while teammate junior Morgan Vogt picked up her second win in the circle as the Lakers moved to 3-0 this season.

Roosevelt owned a 2-0 lead after one inning and tacked on two more in the second behind Santora's clutch two-out, two-run double.

The Arrows scratched a run home in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Lakers' lead to 4-1. Roosevelt answered with three of their own in the top of the fifth for a 7-1 advantage. All three runs came with two outs as junior Amanda Ferguson laced an RBI single to left before junior Xenia Senisais lined a single into center that plated a pair.

Roosevelt pushed the score to 9-1 in the top of the sixth with senior Amelia Enberg singling home a run before the second tally in the frame scored on a wild pitch.

Vogt (2-for-4) and junior Kelly Crowley (2-for-4) joined Santora (3-for-3) with multi-hit outings.

Vogt scattered four hits and allowed just the one run in her six innings of work in the circle.
