CHICAGO – Another double-double from Jasmine Kyler and three Lakers in double-figure scoring was not enough to overcome visiting St. Francis in a 75-63 loss at the Goodman Center on Saturday.
Becky Williford scored a team-high 17 to go with nine assists, Kyler added 16 points and 14 rebounds for her third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season, and Paige Gallimore tallied 13 for the Lakers (6-13, 2-5 CCAC).
Katie Gonnering scored a game-high 25 points to go with 18 rebounds for the Fighting Saints (8-11, 4-2 CCAC).
The Saints made seven of 16 first-half three-point attempts to build a double-digit lead they would not relinquish, and the Lakers had no luck from beyond the arc in a 1-for-9 downtown display.
Gonnering had 11 of St. Francis' 26 offensive rebounds, giving the Saints 21 second-chance points.
While both teams didn't shoot well for the game, it was St. Francis' early success from the field and behind the arc and 18 Roosevelt turnovers that sealed the Lakers' fate on this day.
