Record Offensive Day Highlights Women's Soccer's 7-0 Win Over Grace Bible

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Mika Reid's two goals aided a school-record offensive display by the Roosevelt women's soccer team, and every phase seemed to click for the Green and White during a decisive 7-0 victory over Grace Bible at Toyota Park on Saturday.

The Lakers, who evened their record to 4-4-0, scored the most goals in a single game in program history and held the Tigers (2-6-0) without a shot during a dominant performance on offense and defense.

Jamie Beniac started the scoring in the fourth minute by converting a beautifully-placed deep ball from Carli Schlaker, and Chelsea Olson followed with a deep shot that eluded the keeper eight minutes later.

Reid tallied the next two Roosevelt goals, scoring on an unassisted run in the 19th minute and beginning the second-half offense by sending a ball past the line after she gathered a cross from Jocelyn Mendoza in the 50th minute.

Saturday's output was Reid's third two-goal game this season and her second straight match with a pair of tallies.

Erika Edmonds collected a pass from Delaney Barrett and scored a stout marker in the 65th minute, and Barrett executed a successful shot of her own that hugged the net after she gathered a pass from Brenna Stremlau in the 88th minute.

Julia Schultz capped the record offensive day with a long strike in the 89th minute.

Roosevelt's possession and defending proved stifling, as ther Lakers spent a vast majority of time in the front third and prevented the Tigers from ever posing a real threat on offense.

Roosevelt never scored more than three goals in a game prior to 2014. The Lakers have now scored four or more goals in a game on four different occasions this fall. The Green and White is also one goal shy of tying the program's total two-year output of goals prior to 2014.

The Lakers host Trinity Christian next Saturday, Oct. 4 at Toyota Park beginning at 11 a.m.
