Men's Soccer Overwhelms Andrews From Start To Finish, 14-0

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Friday's match against Andrews was a no-doubter from the start for the Roosevelt men's soccer team, as the Lakers scored 50 seconds into the game and proceeded to tally eight more goals before halftime arrived in a 14-0 victory at Toyota Park.

Jose Garcia scored three consecutive goals and assisted on three others, while Leo Rodriguez, Evan Trychta and Omar Guzman turned in two-goal performances for the Lakers (4-2-0), who have now won four in a row.

Irving Balboa started the scoring 10 seconds before a minute had passed in the match, as the sophomore speedster took quick one-touch passes from Trychta and Garcia to get a look he easily converted.

That opened the flood gates, as Roosevelt took a 5-0 lead over the Cardinals (1-5-0) before 10 minutes had even elapsed.

As Roosevelt built a huge lead thanks to an offense that generated a 43-shot advantage, the Lakers stymied Andrews with a defense that pitched a shutout for the third time in four matches and didn't allow a Cardinal shot until the 70th minute.

Trychta assisted on a team-high four goals, while Rodriguez added three assists on the day.

The Lakers will begin Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play this Wednesday, Sept. 24 against Cardinal Stritch at Toyota Park beginning at 4 p.m.
