Softball Shut Out At Aquinas In Regular-Season Finale

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The bats went cold for the Roosevelt softball team in the Lakers' final day of regular season play on Saturday, as the Green and White went scoreless in a pair of non-conference losses to host Aquinas (Mich.).

Roosevelt (17-32) out-hit the Saints (22-19) 4-3 in the opener, but Aquinas capitalized on its three hits and a Roosevelt error for a 3-0 decision.

The Lakers then ran into a tough challenge in Aquinas pitcher Caitlyn Hensel, who held the Green and White to just two hits in an 8-0 Roosevelt loss.

Roosevelt stranded nine runners on base in the first game, and Aquinas scored on a second-inning RBI single and put two on the board in the fourth with a two-run double with two out following a Laker error.

The second game was 3-0 for most of the game until Aquinas ended it with five runs in the fifth, with Roosevelt's third-ranked offense in the CCAC unable to muster much against Hensel.
