Neubauer Drives In Rare Run Against Nation's Stingiest Pitcher, Softball Falls At No. 7 Olivet

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Katie Neubauer's fourth-inning RBI single was all the Roosevelt softball team could do against undefeated Virginia McAndrews and seventh-ranked Olivet Nazarene in a 9-1 loss on Monday.

The Lakers (16-26, 7-8 CCAC) mustered four hits against McAndrews, who entered the game with an ERA of 0.48 and had given up nation-low totals of 10 runs and just five earned runs.

Olivet Nazarene (41-2, 7-0 CCAC), the nation's top run-scoring team, tallied three runs in each of the first two innings to take the early lead.

Kristy Santora led off the fourth with a triple, and Neubauer was able to drive her in for a rare run against McAndrews to make it a 6-1 game.

But the Tigers responded in the bottom of the fourth on Hannah Gardner's two-run homer, and a sac fly in the fifth made it a run-ruled game and moved McAndrews to 13-0.

Monday's second game was suspended due to weather in the bottom of the third and will be resumed this Wednesday, April 23 at 5 p.m.
