BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Two first-half goals by visiting Trinity Christian put the Roosevelt women's soccer team in a bind that the Lakers were unable to escape, as the Green and White fell to the Trolls by a final of 3-0 at a slippery and chilly Toyota Park on Saturday.
Mika Reid unleashed four shots and Sydney Hebel made six saves for the Lakers, who fell to 4-5-0 and suffered their first conference blemish to go to 1-1-0 in CCAC play.
With light rain peppering the pitch throughout the match and temperatures in the low 40s, the weather proved as unkind to the Lakers as the production of the Trolls (5-3-2, 2-0-1 CCAC) on this dreary day.
Trinity Christian's push and possession proved fruitful in the 30th minute, when Amy Tadla sent forward a through ball past the backline and into the boots of Kayla Diemer, who finished despite the diving reach of Hebel for the match's first goal.
Less than two minutes later it was Diemer unfurling a shot that Hebel stopped, but the rebound found the feet of Cassidy Bosselaar and eventually reached the net for a quick two-goal spurt.
The Lakers were forced to play catch-up the remainder of regulation, and Trinity Christian iced the match in the 70th minute when Tadla's corner kick reached the noggin of Rachael Webb, who snapped it into goal for the 3-0 lead that stood up.
