Beniac Strikes Twice, But Women's Soccer Felled By St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill. – Jamie Beniac scored two goals in a match for the third time this season to register her team-leading ninth and 10th tallies of 2014, but the Roosevelt women's soccer team couldn't dig out of a four-goal hole in falling to host St. Francis, 6-2, at ATI Field at Joliet Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Sydney Hebel made nine saves for the Lakers (4-7-0, 1-3-0 CCAC), who were outshot 27-10 by the Saints (6-4-0, 4-0-0 CCAC).

St. Francis scored 12 minutes into the match on Liceth Robles' goal and tacked on two more before halftime to put the Lakers' deficit at three.

The hosts scored in the 48th minute to make it 4-0 before Beniac got Roosevelt on the board in the 51st minute by converting a penalty kick.

The Saints answered that tally in the 72nd minute, but Beniac and her teammates wouldn't lay down. The speedy forward gathered a pass from Liana Imbrogno in the 78th minute and sent the ball into goal to make the game 5-2.

St. Francis was awarded a PK of its own in the 87th minute that Yessica Reyes capitalized on for the final goal of the day.

Roosevelt hosts Judson this Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Toyota Park, with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
