Ferguson Hits Two Three-Run Homers, Santora Doubles Three Times, Softball Splits Pair At Spring Jamboree

MORRISON, Ill. – The Roosevelt softball team split its stay at the Ashford Spring Jamboree at the Morrison Softball Complex on Saturday, falling to St. Ambrose before downing Viterbo.

Despite Amanda Ferguson's two three-run homers, the Lakers could not overcome St. Ambrose' seven-run first-inning barrage in an 18-9 loss in five innings.

Ferguson drove in six of Roosevelt's nine runs in the first game, while Courtney Raschk, Sam Kusta and Morgan Youskevtch drove in a run apiece.

In the nightcap, Roosevelt rebounded nicely behind Morgan Vogt's complete-game outing in the circle and three doubles off the bat of Kristy Santora to end the day victorious over the V-Hawks in a 9-4 affair.

Vogt struck out seven and allowed just one earned run while mirroring Santora's day at the dish with a 3-for-4 showing. Vogt drove in three runs, and all three of Santora's hits were of the two-bagger variety.

Kusta joined the extra-base party by homering in the second game.

The Lakers have a short turnaround time, as Roosevelt faces Spring Jamboree host Ashford in a road doubleheader on Sunday.
