Women's Soccer Falls To Trinity International, 2-0

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – The Roosevelt women's soccer team couldn't get even after Trinity International scored in the 31st minute, and an insurance goal in the match's waning moments sealed the decision as the Lakers fell to the Trojans, 2-0, at Toyota Park on Saturday.

Olivia Cain made nine saves in goal for the Lakers (5-10-0, 1-7-0 CCAC).

Mika Reid and Delaney Barrett each put up a pair of shots.

It appeared Roosevelt would light the scoreboard first in the 12th minute, when Carli Schlaker sent a beautiful bending ball toward frame that bounced off the crossbar.

Trinity International (9-4-2, 4-2-2 CCAC) was the most aggressive side on the attack, launching 10 first-half shots and 22 total in the contest. The Trojans were able to get one of those looks just into the net in the 31st minute, when Ashley Bowman slipped a shot just underneath the crossbar and over the reach of a leaping Cain that eventually found its way in for the first strike.

Roosevelt pressed ahead to attempt to equalize in the second half, but the Lakers were unable to get a solid look. The game was put out of reach with 17 seconds remaining in regulation, when Melissa Loretto collected a ball from the left and beat Cain for the two-goal advantage.

The Lakers host 16th-ranked Olivet Nazarene at Toyota Park this Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.
