Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt men's and women's basketball seasons are in full swing, and both Laker squads lift the lid on Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, Nov. 7 against St. Francis at the UIC Physical Education Building (901 W. Roosevelt Road).
The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Both Roosevelt teams head into the evening unbeaten in the regular season. Head coach Joe Griffin and his men's basketball team decisively defeated Marygrove on the road, 67-35, last Thursday night. Sophomore guard Joe Harks scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double in the Lakers' season-opening victory.
Double-doubles also permeated both of the Roosevelt women's basketball team's season-starting victories last week. Junior forward Maria Tamburrino averaged 12.0 ppg and 10.5 rpg on a pair of double-doubles to lift the Lakers to a 60-48 road win at Ashford last Thursday and an 81-66 home decision over Clarke this past Saturday.Fellow junior frontcourt standout Jennie Van Hook also notched a double-double against Clarke, turning in 10 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday.
Tamburrino secured the first CCAC Player of the Week honors for the 2012-13 campaign on Tuesday as a result of her efforts last week.
