Chicago, Ill. - Junior forward Maria Tamburrino (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 25.
This is the second time this month that Tamburrino has earned the CCAC Player of the Week award, earning the nod after the season's opening week for the period ending on Nov. 4.
Tamburrino averaged nearly a double-double last week, posting 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists in two big wins. She led the Lakers to an 82-74 win over Indiana South Bend on Tuesday with 18 points and 11 boards before turning in 27 points, eight rebounds and six steals in Roosevelt's 112-96 victory over 13th-ranked Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.
The 27-point performance against No. 13 Olivet Nazarene matched a career high for Tamburrino.
Tamburrino was efficient from the floor, shooting 55.9 percent from the field in the pair of decisions.
The Lakers, who are 7-1 overall and currently in a tie for first place in the CCAC with Cardinal Stritch thanks to identical 5-1 league records, take on the RedHawks of Indiana University Northwest tonight at 7 p.m. in Gary, Ind.
