Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt women's basketball team returns to action after a nine-day layoff as the Lakers square off with St. Francis (Ind.) on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the opening round of the St. Xavier University Christmas Tournament.
The three-day tournament takes place at the Shannon Center located at 3700 W 103rd St. in Chicago. Roosevelt's opponent on Tuesday and Wednesday will be determined by how the team finishes on each day of the event.
The Lakers have won their last two games and own a record of 8-4 on the season. Roosevelt is hoping the layoff did not cool off junior Peggie Parhas, who is averaging 27.0 ppg in her last two outings.
St. Francis (Ind.) has a record of 10-4 this season. The Cougars are led by Kayla Mullens, The 5-foot-9 junior averages 18.1 ppg, which is tops in the Mid-Central Conference.
