Quinn O'Bryan Named Academic All-District Honoree

CHICAGO – Roosevelt sophomore shortstop Quinn O'Bryan was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Dyer, Indiana native was an All-GLIAC honorable mention selection this past season as one of two players to start all 49 games this season for the Lakers. O'Bryan was at his best in conference play this season with a .370 batting average and .452 slugging percentage to go along with his .420 on-base percentage in GLIAC games.

In order to be named to the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete must hold at least a 3.5 grade point average as a sophomore or older. For field players, they are required to have appeared in at least 90 percent of a team's games or started 2/3 of those contests. For pitchers, they must make 17 appearances or throw at least 35 innings. 

The Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports in all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. It was established in 1952 and the honorees are nominated by CSC members then All-American honors are voted on by the membership as well.
