Early Runs Not Enough For Lakers

KENOSHA, Wis. – A strong start was not enough for Roosevelt in a 13-3 loss to Parkside in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Sunday in Wisconsin.

The Lakers rode the momentum of their two wins Saturday into Sunday's contest with Quinn O'Bryan leading off with a walk. Ian Bagaconza singled to put the first two batters on base then CJ Chalk scored them both with a double into left field. Jack Hoh followed with a single into right field to score Chalk and give Roosevelt (11-33, 2-18 GLIAC) the early 3-0 lead.

Parkside responded in the bottom of the first with three runs to thwart Roosevelt's momentum, and the Lakers didn't recover. Cooper Ohlson doubled to lead off the second inning, but was stranded on the base paths. The Rangers went on to add two runs in the second, four in the third and four in the sixth for the victory.

Chalk walked in his other two plate appearances while Hoh finished 2 for 3 at the dish with his RBI. Alejandro Munoz had the only other hit for the Lakers with a fifth-inning single.

UP NEXT: Roosevelt finishes its season Friday and Saturday with a pair of home doubleheaders against Saginaw Valley State.
