Lakers Smash Drops Heartbreaker to Ferris State

CHICAGO - The Lakers' smash team suffered its first loss of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season Monday night, falling 2-0 to Ferris State in a tight matchup, with both rounds coming down to the final stock.

Roosevelt got out to a good start in game 1, with captain Michael "Avian!" Noel taking all 3 stocks from their opponent without dropping any themself. Noel then took another 3 stocks from the Bulldogs' next challenger, dropping 2 in the process, and took another stock from Ferris State's third crew member before finally bowing out. The momentum would shift from there, with the Bulldogs eventually eeking out a victory as both teams found themselves down to their final stocks.

Loki "Azura" Campos kicked things off for the Lakers in game 2 with a 3-2 victory over her opponent before giving way to Noel. Both teams traded blows the rest of the way before Ferris State once again pulled out a narrow victory with both teams on their last stocks.

UP NEXT - Roosevelt smash will look to bounce back in GLIAC play against Michigan Tech next Monday at 6 pm.
