ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Olivia Breeden ran the 10th fastest time in Roosevelt history to lead the Lakers women to a 13th place finish at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana in Rock Island.
The sophomore was running her first collegiate cross-country race after joining the Lakers midway through last season, and made an immediate impact. Breeden finished 66th overall and earned 58 points for the Lakers with her time of 26 minutes even for the 6-kilometer course.
Shelsee Issasi finished second among Roosevelt runners in 81st place 42 seconds behind Breeden. She was followed by Cristin Moreno in 27:22 and Emalyn Davis in 27:32, both of whom finished in the top-100 overall at the event. Khaniya Higginbotham rounded out the Lakers squad with a time of 31:05, the senior's personal best for the distance.
Roosevelt's men did not have enough runners participate in order to record a team score. Jason Perez-Martin was just shy of his personal best to lead the Lakers in 28 minutes and 18 seconds and Adrian Shiguango-Holtz ran his fastest race in nearly two years with a 31:03 over the eight kilometers.
