DETROIT, Mich. — Olivia Breeden continued to make history Saturday, running the fifth-fastest time in program history to lead Roosevelt at the Warrior Challenge in Detroit.
The sophomore from New York knocked nearly a minute off her previous best time earlier this season to finish the 6-kilometer race in 25:04 and 73rd place overall. Shelsee Isassi was the next Roosevelt runner to finish, leading the pack of three Lakers in the next nine places. Isassi finished 90th in 26:18, just 11 seconds off her personal best, and was followed by Emalyn Davis in 94th and Cristin Moreno in 98th. Davis also dropped nearly a minute off her season best to finish in 26:39 while Moreno finished in 27:35 to round out Roosevelt's results.
Neither the men nor the women fielded enough to earn a team score as the Lakers men sent out just three runners to tackle the 8 kilometers in their race. Joshua Paniagua paced the Lakers in his first collegiate race with a 27:33 to finish in 62nd position. Jason Perez-Martin set a season best with his 28:04, good for 77th place, and Adrian Shiguango Holtz finished 89th in a season-best 28:53
The Lakers now prepare for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Nov. 6 in Hammond, Ind.
