ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Roosevelt continued its steady improvement on Saturday at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville.
Although the Lakers did not send enough runners to qualify for any team points, all four women's runners set season bests in the race.
Gloria Romero led the pack for Roosevelt in 25:05, less than 20 seconds off the sophomore's career best at 6 kilometers.
Cristin Moreno cut more than 90 seconds off her time from two weeks ago, finishing in 26:16 for the Lakers.
Shelsee Isassi shaved off another 30 seconds from her time to complete the race in 28:34 while
Khaniya Higginbotham ran more than three minutes faster in her second career cross-country meet. The junior finished in 31:12, besting six other runners in the race.
Saturday also served as the opening meet for the men's team, which has struggled with injuries to start the year.
Jason Perez-Martin set a personal best in the debut race of his sophomore season by finishing the 8 kilometers in 28:06.
Raul Ortiz was the other Lakers runner in the men's race and he finished in 35:54.
