Michael Prokos Named Academic All-District

CHICAGO – Sophomore wide receiver Michael Prokos was named an Academic All-District honoree by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.

The native of Crystal Lake, Ill. played in all 10 games this season for the Lakers, making 37 catches for 376 yards and a touchdown. Prokos hauled in his only score on a 27-yard pass against Davenport on Oct. 25 then followed up the following week with eight catches for 105 yards against Michigan Tech. It is the first career academic honor for Prokos, who has appeared in 17 of a possible 20 games through his first two seasons at Roosevelt.

In order to be named to the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete not only hold at least a 3.5 grade point average as a sophomore or older, but also must have either appeared in 90 percent of a team's games or started 2/3 of a team's contests. The list of all-district honorees is then vetted by the CSC committee, who send out a ballot for All-American honors to the membership.

The Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports in all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. It was established in 1952 and the honorees are nominated by CSC members then All-American honors are voted on by the membership as well.
