CHICAGO – Roosevelt University Vice President of Athletics and Student-Athlete Success Mike Cassidy announced
Kyle Decker has been promoted to Deputy Athletics Director effective immediately.
Decker arrived at Roosevelt in February 2022 as an Assistant Athletics Director and was promoted to Associate Athletics Director a year later. The University of Illinois graduate oversees all of Roosevelt's marketing and branding efforts, and coordinates gameday operations for the Lakers. In addition to these roles, Decker handles compliance for Roosevelt's club sports and serves as the sport administrator for men's basketball, men's golf, the Lakers spirit programs and Esports.
"I am excited for this new role within the Roosevelt athletic department and motivated to continue providing a championship experience for our student-athletes," Decker said. "My time at Roosevelt has been professionally and personally transformative, and my hope is to create a similarly impactful experience for our student-athletes. Thank you to Vice President of Athletics and Student Success Mike Cassidy for believing in me and providing me with this new opportunity to make a positive impact on our department. Roosevelt is truly a special place and I look forward to continuing our journey as the only NCAA Division II school in Chicago."
Decker came to Roosevelt from University of Illinois at Chicago, where he served in multiple roles within the athletic department for 11 years. He began his career at UIC in 2010 as a graduate assistant and was the manager of ticket operations until 2013 then became the assistant director of marketing. Â
In 2015, he was promoted to the Director of Marketing and remained in that role for two years before being named an Assistant Athletic Director, focusing on tickets and fan development. A year later, his duties as Assistant Athletic Director transitioned to internal operations and compliance, where he worked for two years. Decker then served as the Director of Corporate Partnerships and Brand Strategy for the final two years of his time with the Flames and oversaw the design and launch of a brand refresh for UIC Athletics.Â
Roosevelt Athletics has undergone a similar refresh over the past two years under Decker's guidance. Most notably, Roosevelt unveiled a new logo in 2024 to coincide with the Lakers' entrance into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Decker took the lead role in planning and executing Roosevelt hosting the 2024 GLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament semifinals and final at Morris Field.
"A key to the growth and success of the Roosevelt Athletic department is its creativity, can-do spirit and commitment to optimizing the student-athlete experience," Cassidy said. "Kyle's multi-faceted skill set and willingness to do whatever is needed, whenever it is needed, embodies these traits and is a tremendous asset to our department and institution. As Deputy Athletic Director, Kyle will continue to lead and support Roosevelt's continued ascent as Chicago's only NCAA Division II program."
