Box Score JOLIET, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team dropped the first game of a CCAC Conference series, losing to the University of Saint Francis by the score of 5-2 on Friday, April 1 at DuPage Medical Group Field. The Lakers are now 10-12 overall and 4-3 in the CCAC this season.
The Lakers scored both of their runs in the first inning, jumping out to 2-0 run to begin the game after loading the bases with one out. Hunter Darst drew a walk to bring in Jojo Mack and Trevor Heinlein scored on a wild pitch after reaching on an infield single earlier in the inning.
However, the Fighting Saints came back with a run in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice bunt after two base hits and a wild pitch to cut the margin to 2-1. In the next inning, Saint Francis took the lead for good with both runs scoring on a two-out double down the left field line, and the home team added solo runs in the fifth and eighth innings to seal the 5-2 victory.
