ELGIN, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team opened the 2022 CCAC Conference season with a 2-0 victory over Judson University behind a dominating pitching performance by Noah Mathias on Wednesday, March 16 at Hoffer Field.  The win raised the Lakers overall record to 6-8 and their CCAC record to 1-0 on the year.

The Lakers scored the only run they would need in the top of the first inning on a Nick McAlister solo homerun, while RU starting pitcher Noah Mathias kept the Judson bats silent the entire game.  The senior pitcher shut out the Eagles and allowed only three hits, while striking out nine batters to earn the victory.

Roosevelt manufactured another run in the fifth inning with Hunter Darst walking and advancing second base on a sacrifice bunt from Diego Blanco.  Diego Gutierrez then singled to left field to drive in Darst for the 2-0 score line.
