LEBANON, Ill. – Maxwell Bowers had a pair of hits, but McKendree pulled away late for a 9-0 win over Roosevelt on Friday in non-conference action.

The Lakers (7-17) were competitive with the Bearcats for the first six innings thanks in large part to Kaden Foran on the mound. The sophomore allowed two runs in the first inning but then settled down to strike out nine and allowed just four hits in six innings of work. He exited the game with McKendree still clinging to the 2-0 lead before the Bearcats exploded for six runs in the seventh inning.

Bowers got the offense started early with a first-inning single, but the rally was halted when Alejandro Munoz struck out and Bowers was thrown out trying to steal second. The threats continued when Andrew Lucas lined a one-out double to right field in the third. In the fourth, Munoz singled and advanced to second on a groundout. The last of Roosevelt's four hits came in the eighth inning when Bowers sent a double to center field.
